Knee and Lower Leg
نویسنده
چکیده
More than 1 million knee injuries are treated annually in North American emergency departments (EDs). These injuries range in severity from minor contusions to limb-threatening injuries to the popliteal artery. The knee joins the longest mechanical levers in the body, the femur and tibia, and is therefore subject to high forces. It is the largest and most complex joint in the body and functions through a complicated interaction of flexion, extension, rotation, gliding, and rolling. Its large synovial space frequently is involved in infections and other inflammatory conditions. The main goal in emergency evaluation of the traumatized knee is to prevent further damage by identifying reparable vascular injuries, reducing dislocations, stabilizing fractures, and administering antibiotics when indicated. Definitive treatment of less urgent problems is deferred to other settings, such as primary care offices for chronic knee pain and orthopedic clinics for ligamentous injuries.

LATE ARTERIAL REPAIR FOR LOWER LIMB OR KNEE SALVAGE
The objective of this report is to prove that even after development of ischemic necrosis of the muscles and nerves, we can still save the extremity or the knee and even several days after arterial injury, perform arterial repair and other mentioned procedures. Thus we can retain a functionally satisfactory leg or knee joint, which is far better than classic above-knee amputation and utili...
متن کاملThe effect of knee valgus control feedback exercise on pain, hip torque and performance variables in participants with patellofemoral pain
Aims and background: Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is a common knee disorder frequently occurred in young females. Abnormalities of lower limb movement patterns during weight-bearing activities can directly affect referred pain. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of knee valgus control feedback exercise on pain, eccentric hip muscle torque, performance and knee angle i...

Objective: A better understanding of the role of muscle fatigue in lower limb stiffness during performance will provide a strong foundation for the development of optimal training intervention programs. This study aimed to investigate the effect of fatigue on ankle and knee joints and leg stiffness during a 30-scontinuous vertical jump test. Methods: Fifteen female volleyball players without h...

Introduction: The aim of the current study was to measure ground reaction force and center of pressure (COP) during lower extremity perturbation in single leg standing whit knee flexion and extension in healthy subjects, in addition to revealing reliability of the device used for the related perturbation for using another studies, reliability is one of the characteristic of measuring instrumen...
متن کاملLATE EMBOLECTOMY FOR LIMB OR KNEE SALVAGE IN ACUTE LOWER LIMB ISCHEMIA: A NEW PROTOCOL
Embolectomy has long been the gold standard for treating limbs acutely threatened by arterial occlusion. Delayed embolectomy has not been investigated adequately due to the belief that accompanying mortality and morbidity render the case futile. Following our previous experience with late arterial repair for leg or knee salvage I we applied the same principle to limbs threatened with prolo...

Background:Despite some successful dynamic simulation of self-impact double pendulum (SIDP)-as humanoid robots legs or arms- studies, there is limited information available about the control of one leg locomotion. Objective :The main goal of this research is to improve the reliability of the mammalians leg locomotion and building more elaborated models close to the natural movements, by modelin...
